Welcome, future ancestor!
Each week, I pick a theme, peel it back, let it marinate, and serve it up with this guiding question...usually in delicious conversation with someone I adore.
How might we practice becoming good future ancestors?
The invitation: How might we - to invite imagination; practice to invite experimentation and learning from mistakes; becoming to invite emergence, good to invite intentional thought, action, and embodiment; future to invite a relationship to time that holds and moves between past, present, and future simultaneously; and ancestors to invite humility, gratitude, and responsibility to those who came before and those yet to come.
How might a future ancestor feel?
If, like me, your brain is exploding from the compound effects of cognitive dissonance - bearing witness to genocide, climate catastrophe, societal collapse… all of it live-streamed by a handful of companies that profit from manufactured scarcity and a chokehold on our attention spans and insecurities. Extraction masquerading as convenience. [Deep breath] If all this feels ick to you AND makes you fucking angry… you are a future ancestor.
If, like me, you feel an ancestral pull towards weaving a better future for generations to come - past, present, and future practiced and folded into the warps and wefts of time. You might not know where to start. But you know you want there to be more joy. More pleasure. More love. More play. More community. More silliness. More stewardship. More flourishing. More good… You are a future ancestor.
If, like me, you’re tired of contorting, conforming, and performing for a society that exalts individual purpose and lone-wolf success, as if success happens in a vacuum. Instead, you aspire toward serving a purpose that is collectively shaped and held toward becoming a good future ancestor.
Darling, you’re in the right place!

Playtime
What threads of future ancestorhood are calling you? Is there a theme you’d like me to explore in a future post? If any of this got your brain noodling, I’d LOVE to know!
